The light of our universe has gone out…only on Earth but not in our hearts.

Our mom, Eileen Harada, or also affectionately known as “Bachan” to her 7 grandchildren,

“Awooh” to her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and “T.I.”

to the neighbourhood kids,  passedaway from lung and liver cancer

on Monday, July 5, 2010.

She was surrounded by what she selflessly gave the entire 89 years of her life…

love, joy and affection.

10 of us…her children,  grandchildren and siblings were with her when she passed.

It was so incredibly difficult watching her finally go but we were all comforted to know

she no longer had to live in a body and mind that didn’t serve her well

(also had Alzheimer’s.)

We were blessed she didn’t have to suffer much at all…she only had pain the final 2 days

of her life and also didn’t have to be tormented by the ravages of Alzheimer’s that steals

a person’s memory, mind and dignity.

Our Mom wasn’t a rich woman with material possessions but she was incredibly wealthy

with what she shared with everyone she met…love, affection, kindness and her gentleness.

She always cared and looked after others before concerning herself.

Every person she met, she touched…with her sweetness and her beautiful soul.

She was known for her baking and cooking…especially her baking…the unforgettable

lemon cupcakes, the nanaimo bars, her legendary butter tarts…her 100 dozen cookies

she baked every Christmas… and all the wonderful Japanese dishes she created.

Her 23,000 origami butterflies were shared with hospitals, charities, friends and families

all over the world as she spread the true meaning of their symbol- the rebirth of Christ.

To the incredible palliative team at Scarboro Hospital (Evangeline, Brenda, Sharon, Rorie,

and others)… thank you for giving her such a safe and caring haven during her final days.

You were all so wonderful and your compassion for our Mom was immeasurable.

To the staff at Delmanor, Wynford (Toronto)- you went above, beyond and over the top

to see that our Mom was happy and comfortable during her short stay at the manor

and the caring continued during her 5 week stay at Scarboro Hospital right up

until the funeral this past Monday the 12th.

We’ll all terribly miss this tiny woman with a huge heart but we all know she more

than earned her spot beside God in Heaven.

She was a good disciple…mission accomplished.

Mom…thank you for what you have given us…your light and love will continue to shine.

You’ve set the bar very high until the day we all meet again.

We love you !

Finally a chance to catch my breath after these past incredibly difficult 6 weeks.

Our mother passed away Monday, July 5th at Scarboro Hospital surrounded by 10 of her family after being hospitalized with lung and liver cancer which was discovered after she was admitted with pneumonia (See “Tribute” section)

KILLER SHOW PREP will return August 1/10 once I get my feet back on the ground.

*** A Los Angeles judge said Monday he can’t suspend Michael Jackson’s personal MD, Conrad Murray while he waits trial on a charge connected to the King of Pop’s death last June 25^th.

Murray, whose been charged with involuntary manslaughter’s admitted he administered the anesthesia propofol to Jackson to help him sleep, but hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing.

LA Superior Court Judge Michael E. Pastor denied the California state medical board’s request that Murray’s license to practice medicine be suspended. Murray and Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine were at Monday’s hearing.

*** AND*** Howard Weitzman, a lawyer for Michael Jackson’s estate’s calling Joe Jackson’s claims his wife could’ve prevented his death “preposterous.”

Joe, told Britain’s News of the World he wanted Katherine, his wife of 60 years, to “step in” and help get their son into rehab to deal with an addiction to prescription drugs, but she refused out of respect for his privacy.

Jackson, 50, died last June 25 of a propofol overdose.

*** AND*** Chris Tucker accepted an award on behalf of Michael Jackson Monday night at the Apollo Theater’s annual spring benefit concert in New York. The pair were good buddies before Jackson’s death last June 25. Jaimee Foxx hosted the event which also honoured Aretha Franklin, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, and featured a tribute to Jackson.

*** AND*** Michael Jackson will appear in a new video game by developers Ubisoft…which’llrate players’ ability to dance like the late King Of Pop. It’ll be one of the 1st titles to use motion detection technology which’s coming out on several consoles later this year.

The mighty Gloved One last appeared in a video game called Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, which was released in 1989.

The game’s launch will coincide with the release of an album in November containing previously unreleased Jackson tracks…and will include songs from his back catalogue, including Billie Jean and Beat It.

*** GARY COLEMAN UPDATES***

*** The cause of death of Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman’s been listed as a fall, with chronic renal failure as a contributing factor. The document, released Monday categorized the 42-year-old actor’s May 28 death as an accident, was made public Monday.

Coleman underwent 4 hours of dialysis treatment hours before he hit his head, which lead to a brain hemorrhage.

Funeral plans for Coleman are still incomplete at this time while Coleman’s ex-wife and former manager battle over who has control of Coleman’s estate.

*** AND*** A Utah judge on Monday ordered Gary Coleman’s remains be cremated by Wednesday afternoon, so Coleman’s former girlfriend and manager, Anna Gray has enough time to travel from Oregon to Utah to see his body.

Coleman’s ashes and property will be securely stored until an estate executor’s named.

Coleman’s ex-wife, Shannon Price, and his former girlfriend-manager, Anna Gray, both claim they’re the lawful administrators of his estate.

Gray’s named in a 2005 will, and the judge delayed Coleman’s cremation so Gray could travel to Utah from Portland, Ore., and see his body before it’s cremated.

*** MISS UNIVERSE CANADA PAGEANT CONTROVERSY UPDATES***

*** Miss Universe Canada Pageant officials booted 21 yr. old Sophie Froment from the competition Saturday after they were told she appeared in TV commercials for an extramarital dating website Ashley Madison.com. The ads never ran in Canada because they were rejected by the TTC’s advertising review committee for not meeting community standards but aired in the US.

The Beauties of Canada website, which produces the Miss Universe Canada pageant said Froment got the hook cuz she made some career choices that aren’t compatible with the image of women their organization tries to promote which disqualified her from representing Canada at the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant. The law student was asked to bow out of the competition Friday, but refused, saying “It was a job. … I’m proud of who I am. And proud of what I do.

*** AND *** Chidi Uzomah Jr., a special forces reserve for the U.S. Army, accused of harassing “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest’s been sentenced to 2 years in prison on a felony count of stalking and 2 misdemeanor counts of violating a court order in November after he pulled out a knife and threatened staff at Seacrest’s Los Angeles office.

Uzomah violated a restraining order issued in a previous case after he admitted to attacking one of Seacrest’s bodyguards.

The 25 yr. old soldier pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing in Los Angeles on November 3; he was arraigned again in March, and pleaded no contest to felony stalking after the case was moved to a different court. Seacrest was awarded a civil restraining order.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed 2 other misdemeanor counts in exchange the plea.

Uzomah was handed the maximum sentence for the remaining charge on Monday and will serve the term at a California state prison.

*** 8 YR. OLD GIRL KICKS EVERYONE’S ASS IN RACE***

*** An 8 yr old Mill Valley, Calif. girl beat 1,400 other runners to win the 100th running of the 7.5-mile Dipsea race from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach north of San Francisco over the weekend. Reilly Johnson also claimed fame to being the youngest-ever champion after defeating triple winner and grandmother Melody-Anne Schultz.

*** SUMMER ALLERGY TIPS***

*** Summer’s the most enjoyable time to spend outdoors but can also be the most irritating…’specially after allergies kick in.

Dr. David Resnick and Dr. Ronit Herzog, allergy specialists at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York have the following advice for people who struggle with sneezing, runny nose, eye irritation, or in some cases, asthma symptoms and hives that can be caused by pollens, molds, food allergies or a typical bee sting.

Resnick and Herzog advice people with pollen allergies to reduce activities between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., when counts are usually highest, and they suggest shower/shampoo after being outside. Other tips…

— Run an air conditioner that can filter out large pollen particles rather than window fans which draw pollen in.

— Use eye drops, nose spray and non-sedating antihistamine to temporarily relieve symptoms. Taking medication an hour before exposure can help decrease symptom severity.

– Remove contact lenses that’ll make red, swollen or itchy eyes from allergies worse.

*** TOO MUCH TV/COMPUTER TIME=TEEN PAIN***

*** The more time teens spend in front of TV’s and computer screens, the greater risk of physical complaints, according to researchers at the University of Bergen in Norway.

Common ailments of the 30,000 Nordic teenagers include back pain, headaches-which, in girls was associated with computer use and TV viewing, but not gaming.

*** The Public Works and Government Services Canada auction site for seized and surplus property includes jewellery, musical instruments, “Superman” pajamas and underwear. The site opened to visitors in January 2009 and generated more than $13 million in profits during the last fiscal year. The auctions also feature “Care Bears” underwear for girls as well as underwear for adults.

*** South Dakota’s joined several other states and the U.S. government in holding auctions for wild animal parts found or confiscated by wildlife officers. The state held its 1st ever auction for wild animal parts including antlers, mountain lion skulls and bobcat hides Saturday, joining other states with similar auctions including Kansas and Arizona. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service began an online auction for animal parts and products, with more than 300,000 items including clothing and accessories made from pythons, ostriches and lizards.

*** 2 Kalamazoo, Michigan people were arrested after a fight that started as an argument about the accuracy of a Wendy’s order and ended up in a food fight. Police responded to a report about a loud disturbance and found food items scattered on the ground near a Wendy’s drive-through. Witnesses told police the fight started when 4 customers in a vehicle began arguing with an employee through the drive-through window about the accuracy of their order. The argument became heated and the occupants of the car began throwing the food at the employee, who in turn threw the items back at the car. 2 of the customers then came into the store and began physically fighting with workers. They were arrested and charged with assault and excessive noise.

*** A Florida teacher’s lawsuit against her old school says she was fired because administrators found out her baby was conceived before her wedding. Jarretta Hamilton, a former 4th-grade teacher at Southland Christian School in St. Cloud, said she approached administrators in April 2009, shortly after her wedding to tell them she was pregnant and request maternity leave for the coming fall. Hamilton told administrators the baby was conceived about 3 weeks before the wedding, and she was fired 1 week later without being allowed to finish the school year.

*** A 38 yr. old Boston man whose portfolio website became famous for featuring a picture of himself in the same Burt Reynolds lying naked on a bearskin rug shot in the ’72 snap in Cosmo’s got 2 Webby awards Monday in New York and several jobs. Lawson Clarke launched his malecopywriter.com site last year after he was laid off and has received attention from several industry publications and getting more than 1 million hits. He said the site became so popular that he was able to turn down full-time job offers in favor of steady freelance work. *** 2 California Home Depot workers were married Saturday in Aisle 1, in the store’s garden section of the Lake Forest Home Depot, surrounded by about 100 guests and a few dozen shoppers. Carolyn Weatherly, 56, and Audwin Mosby, 55 tied the knot in the store- the 1^st wedding in a California Home Depot and only the 2nd nationwide after an Alaska ceremony.

*** A foul odour coming from a 5-gallon jar of mayonnaise resulted in the closing of a road and the evacuation of several Florida homes. 2 people called to complain of the smell Tuesday and said the odour left them with trouble breathing and a burning sensation in their eyes. A team searched the residence and found a “large barrel” left behind by the previous occupants of the home.

*** Customers and staff were shocked when a deer crashed through a large window at Applebee’s restaurant in Batavia, New York just after 7 p.m. Sunday and ran around the establishment, leaving a trail of broken glass, before being led out the front door. No one was injured.

*** 600 people are riding in this year’s 150th anniversary of the old Pony Express mail service ride which runs from Sacramento to St. Joseph, Mo. Organizers at the Callao, Utah, station, one of 165 stations on the route said this year’s ride’s been increased from the traditional 10 days to 20 days to allow for extra celebrations. Riders who volunteer with the association carry $5 commemorative letters-the same price paid in 1860. The Pony Express ran from April 1860 to October 1861.

*** Connecticut State Police believe a man on drugs mistook a home for a bed and breakfast and went fell asleep in a bedroom. A Higganum couple told cops they were with relatives in their home when a family member went inside and found a credit card on the stairs, and Walker Bruce, 45, asleep in a bedroom. Bruce told them he’d mistaken the house for a bed and breakfast and left his credit card on the stairs as payment. Bruce was charged with 3rd-degree burglary and taken to hospital for examination.

*** The case against Neal Horsley, the man accused of threatening Elton John’s life’s been dropped just hours before his trial was due to begin. Horsley was arrested in March and charged with making terrorist threats, criminal defamation and using the internet to disseminate threats after he posted a spiteful rant about the singer on Youtube.

He was held in Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia ahead of his trial, which was due to start on Monday, but the court appointment was cancelled after the judge dismissed the case against Horsley because his actions didn’t warrant criminal charges.

Horsley was outraged when Sir Elton said Jesus Christ was gay in a Parade magazine interview in February, and he wrote an angry online response, entitled ‘Why Elton John Must Die.’

A viral video, which appeared on YouTube also featured footage of Horsley holding an ‘Elton John Must Die‘ sign outside the star’s home in Atlanta, Georgia.

*** Green Day’s American Idiot musical won 2 Tony’s Sunday night for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design. The San Fran band performed as well, alongside the cast of American Idiot.

*** The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers sez his 1st solo album, Flamingo started out as a new Killers album and that making it was a “lonely” process. Flamingo’ll be released this Fall after the 1st single Crossfire drops in September. Flowers collaborated with Stuart Price, Brendan O’Brien and Jenny Lewis for the album.

*** Tom Petty and The Tribune Co. have teamed up for a new online promotion around his upcoming record, Mojo. A new Web hub in conjunction with TomPetty.com will offer unique content, videos, concert tickets and other merchandise.

*** U2 bassist Adam Clayton’s suing the band’s own financial manager over “alleged negligence.” Gaby Smyth, who controls U2′s finances, and 2 accountants are named in the suit, filed in Dublin. It’s beleievd the suit may be in conjunction with Clayton’s ex-housekeeper, who allegedly defrauded the bassist out of approximately 1.8 million Euros.

*** Ben Folds’ new album, Lonely Avenue with author Nick Hornby’s out September 28. Hornby (High Fidelity, About A Boy) wrote the lyrics…Folds sings and wrote and performed the music.

*** The lineup for the “Nashville Rising” benefit concert June 22nd’ll now include ZZ Top, Toby Keith, Billy Ray Cyrus and more. The concert’ll raise funds for those affected by the recent flooding in Tennessee.

*** The Go-Go’s have been forced to cancel their Happily Ever After summer farewell tour which was to kick off on July 7 at the Lilith Fair in San Diego, and end in Austin, TX on July 27. The band will also be unable to perform live on Good Morning America July 16 in New York’s Central Park cuz guitarist Jane Wiedlin injured herself after a 20-foot fall while hiking near her home in Northern California. *** A Los Angeles judge said Monday he can’t suspend Michael Jackson’s personal MD, Conrad Murray while he waits trial on a charge connected to the King of Pop’s death last June 25^th.

*** The case against Neal Horsley, the man accused of threatening Elton John’s life’s been dropped just hours before his trial was due to begin. Horsley was arrested in March and charged with making terrorist threats, criminal defamation and using the internet to disseminate threats after he posted a spiteful rant about the singer on Youtube.

He was held in Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia ahead of his trial, which was due to start on Monday, but the court appointment was cancelled after the judge dismissed the case against Horsley because his actions didn’t warrant criminal charges.

Horsley was outraged when Sir Elton said Jesus Christ was gay in a Parade magazine interview in February, and he wrote an angry online response, entitled ‘Why Elton John Must Die.’

A viral video, which appeared on YouTube also featured footage of Horsley holding an ‘Elton John Must Die‘ sign outside the star’s home in Atlanta, Georgia.

*** The cause of death of Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman’s been listed as a fall, with chronic renal failure as a contributing factor. The document, released Monday categorized the 42-year-old actor’s May 28 death as an accident, was made public Monday.

Coleman underwent 4 hours of dialysis treatment hours before he hit his head, which lead to a brain hemorrhage.

Funeral plans for Coleman are still incomplete at this time while Coleman’s ex-wife and former manager battle over who has control of Coleman’s estate.

*** AND*** A Utah judge on Monday ordered Gary Coleman’s remains be cremated by Wednesday afternoon, so Coleman’s former girlfriend and manager, Anna Gray has enough time to travel from Oregon to Utah to see his body.

Coleman’s ex-wife, Shannon Price, and his former girlfriend-manager, Anna Gray, both claim they’re the lawful administrators of his estate.

Gray’s named in a 2005 will, and the judge delayed Coleman’s cremation so Gray could travel to Utah from Portland, Ore., and see his body before it’s cremated.

*** Chidi Uzomah Jr., a special forces reserve for the U.S. Army, accused of harassing “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest’s been sentenced to 2 years in prison on a felony count of stalking and 2 misdemeanor counts of violating a court order in November after he pulled out a knife and threatened staff at Seacrest’s Los Angeles office.

Uzomah violated a restraining order issued in a previous case after he admitted to attacking one of Seacrest’s bodyguards.

The 25 yr. old soldier pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing in Los Angeles on November 3; he was arraigned again in March, and pleaded no contest to felony stalking after the case was moved to a different court. Seacrest was awarded a civil restraining order.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed 2 other misdemeanor counts in exchange the plea.

Uzomah was handed the maximum sentence for the remaining charge on Monday and will serve the term at a California state prison.

*** 2 separate studies show eating fish at a young age and living on or near a farm could immunize kids from allergies later in life.

The study at the University of Gothenburg of 8,000 families found children who ate fish before the age of 9 months had less allergic rhinitis — sneezing and runny nose at age 54 months than kids who didn’t eat fish at the same age.

Allergic rhinitis was found in ½ the children who ate fish before 9 months old compared to those who didn’t eat fish until later.

Plus… in a 2^nd study at the University of Munich in Germany of 34,500 children ages 6 to 12 years, who didn’t live on a farm in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and had no contact with hay, straw and animals were 2/3rd’s more likely to suffer from hay fever or asthma than children with some link to a farm.

*** GIRLS WHO DRINK SODA (POP) JUST AREN’T PLAIN HEALTHY***

*** A 10-year study of 170 girls by Pennsylvania State University’s found the earlier the girls started drinking soda, the more likely they’d be deficient in essential nutrients.

Other findings…

• Girls who didn’t drink soda by age 5 didn’t meet some nutritional guidelines, but their diets were healthier.
• Soda drinkers drink less milk and also consume fewer milligrams of fiber, protein, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium.

• Soda drinkers consume 55 milligrams daily of calcium, while soda non-drinkers exceed the daily recommendation of 65 mg by 10.5 milligrams daily.

*** Police in New York busted a homeless man who attempted to rob a bank armed only with a TV remote he claimed was connected to a bomb. Edward Callahan, 55, walked into the Chase branch at Columbus Avenue and 72nd Street and told the manager he was robbing the facility and his TV remote was connected to a bomb. Employees climbed to the roof of the building, triggering a silent alarm along the way, and the manager gave Callahan a black bag. The suspect fled through a back entrance when police officers came in the front and he was arrested 2 storefronts away. Police said there was no bomb.

*** An Illinois student accused of throwing condoms filled with vomit at a college security officer said the liquid was actually a mixture of ketchup and water. 19 yr. old Tyler Wilfley, a student at North Central College, was charged with battery and disorderly conduct for allegedly lobbing the liquid-filled condoms at the security officer from a parking deck in Naperville early morning on May 28^th. Police “thought it was vomit because it had a foul odour, but in reality it was ketchup and water.”

*** Sweden’s Museum of World Cultures’ cancelled an exhibit about homosexuality in religion because it might offend some believers. Sarah Hunte of Hartshill, England, pleaded guilty in Coventry Magistrates Court to wasteful employment of police time, using a vehicle without insurance and failing to stop after an accident. Hunter took her boyfriend’s car, which she wasn’t insured to drive, without his permission and crashed into 2 parked cars in Canley. They said she ran to a nearby house and concocted a story of being dragged from the car by 2 men and raped in an alleyway. Hunter faces up to 6 months in jail when she’s sentenced later this month.

*** A gang of alleged burglars accused of taking more than $9,000 worth of items in Massachusetts includes a grandmother and her grandson. Lee Pires, 57, of Onset, her grandson Adrian Martin, 21, of Onset, and his friend Timothy Morrison, 19, of Wareham, allegedly stole $9,000 worth of jewelry, cash and electronics during a 3-day burglary spree in Wareham. Cops recovered about 95% of the stolen items and returned them to the victims.

*** The 2^nd annual Guitars of the Stars Benefit Auction features guitars custom-designed by country stars sold to the highest bidder. This year, all proceeds will benefit the ongoing recovery effort in Music City following the devastating Nashville flood.

Donations have already been confirmed by Rascal Flatts, Alan Jackson, Danny Gokey, Chris Young, Jake Owen, Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, The Judds and Eric Church. The auction opens with a performance by Chris Young and a custom guitar signed by artists at the CMT Music Awards.

The auction, part of the CMA Music Fest’s Friday, June 11 at 3:00 PM CST at the Ryman Auditorium. The 4-day festival runs from June 10-13 in Nashville, Tenn.

*** Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell fulfilled 5-year-old Bethany Fenton’s final wish before she lost her battle with a brain tumour Tuesday. Little Bethany got her ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ dream of singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ for him when she visited the ‘Talent’ studios in North London ahead of Saturday’s final and even met some of the finalists in the competition.

Bethany was diagnosed last year with a grade 3-4 anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumour and passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Helen House Hospice in Oxford after a sudden deterioration in her condition at home.

*** A bench warrant’s been issued for the arrest of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan after her SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet was set off Sunday night.

Lohan was at Katy Perry’s post MTV Awards party Sunday night and may have had a cocktail or 2…authorities investigated and concluded the monitor’s report was legitimate…howevuh, Lohan tweeted did nothing wrong and “all of these false reports are absolutely wrong.” Bail’s been posted at $200,000.

*** Ja Rule will have to stand trial in New York August 18^th on gun possession charges stemming from a 2007 incident in New York when his car was pulled over by cops for speeding, having a suspended registration and no insurance. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a semi-automatic gun hidden in the rear driver’s side door. Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins’ pleaded not guilty- he faces up to 4 years in jail if convicted.

*** 2 producers are fighting it out in court over royalties from Drake’s song Best I Ever Had. New York-based DJ Absolut, real name Shaune Muir’s suing for royalties owed cuz a beat he created was allegedly used in the 2009 hit without his permission. Muir alleges he handed his composition to Kia Shine in 2008 after the rapper/producer agreed to give him 20% of any royalty payments made from the beat’s use, but he had no idea the music had allegedly been used in Drake’s song until he heard it on the radio.

Shine’s earned $1 million from Best I Ever Had after secretly agreeing a deal to get a 25% cut the track’s copyright. Muir’s legal representatives filed a breach of contract lawsuit at Queens Supreme Court last week after reportedly failing to get in contact with Shine, real name Nakia Coleman.

*** Lil Kim’s concert at the Higher Ground nightclub was shut down by Vermont State Police shortly after midnight last Thursday when drunken fans got into a bustup steps away from the club. 1 person was arrested and cited on suspicion of DUI.

*** Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell fulfilled 5-year-old Bethany Fenton’s final wish before she lost her battle with a brain tumour Tuesday. Little Bethany got her ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ dream of singing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ for him when she visited the ‘Talent’ studios in North London ahead of Saturday’s final and even met some of the finalists in the competition.

Bethany was diagnosed last year with a grade 3-4 anaplastic astrocytoma brain tumour and passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Helen House Hospice in Oxford after a sudden deterioration in her condition at home.

*** Howard Weitzman, the lawyer representing Michael Jackson’s estate sez plans for the The Forever Michael memorial tribute to mark the 1st anniversary of his death hasn’t been officially approved. The tribute will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on June 26th – exactly a year and a day after the King of Pop died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home.

The gala’s being organized by executives at The Jackson Family Foundation, a charity set up by the father Joe to fund a Jackson family museum in their native Gary, Indiana, in conjunction with VoicePlate Productions. A “portion” of proceeds will go towards the charity.

Shannon reportedly took and sold the photos of Coleman as he lay in a coma in the hospital. Since his death, stories have started emerging about her odd behaviour during and after his hospitalization.

The 911 tape the day the former Diff’rent Strokes actor fell and hit his head reveal Price appeared reluctant to help him, saying she didn’t “want to be traumatized right now” since she had a fever.

“He just got home, I heard this big bang, I went downstairs. Blood everywhere. I don’t know if he’s okay. I’m not down there right now because I have a fever, if I get stressed out I’m going to faint,” she told the operator.

*** Charlie Sheen’s jail time for his Christmas Day attack on wife Brooke Mueller at their Colorado ski resorts’ been delayed a month.

The “Two and A Half Men” star was s’posed to start a 30-day sentence behind bars on Monday, but there was a problem regarding his plea deal with prosecutors, so it’s been bumped to July 13^th. Sheen pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault as part of an agreement with prosecutors and entered a no contest plea to 3rd degree assault in court on Monday.

*** Q’orianka Kilcher, the 20 yr. old actress who played Pocahontas in Colin Farrell’s ’05 movie, “The New World” was arrested in Washington, D.C. after chaining herself to the White House perimeter fence last Tuesday to protest a state visit by Peru’s President Alan Garcia, whose announced plans to sell large areas of indigenous land to oil companies and other foreign investors.

Kilcher’s father’s a Peruvian Indian and her mom was also involved in the protest; she covered her daughter in black paint. The mother’s been charged with defacing government property.

Kilcher was charged with disorderly conduct and will appear in the city’s Superior Court on Wednesday.

*** If you don’t want to get attacked by a shark, don’t surf on Sunday during a new moon, in shallow water wearing black and white.

University of Florida researchers analyzed stats from 231 shark attacks in Florida’s Volusia County — also known as the “Shark Attack Capital of the World” from 1956 to 2008 and found the strip between Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach had more shark-human interactions than any other stretch of coastlines in the world.

The 47-mile-long section of beach had 21% of all global shark attacks from ’99 to ’08.

The researchers say the sharks don’t prefer weekends- it’s just more shark attacks occurred on Sunday cuz there are more people in the water.

The phase of the moon’s linked to the tides and the black-and-white bathing suits may attract sharks because sharks see sharp contrasts best.

*** AT HOME WORKERS WORK MORE HOURS BUT HAVE GOOD FAMILY LIFE***

*** People who work from home spend an average of 19 more hours a week than in-office workers…without it affecting their family life.

Researchers at Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City studied 24,436 IBM employees in 75 countries who said work started to affect home life after 38 hours of work a week.

The study, “Finding an Extra Day or Two,” said those offered flextime, including the ability to work from home found they could put in up to 57 hours a week without feeling the work-family conflict.

*** Some hospital emergency room keyboards are more likely than others to be contaminated with bacteria, according to researchers at Henry Ford Hospitals in Detroit.

The health officials cultured and analyzed swabs for 72 emergency department keyboards. All keyboard keys, ‘cept for function keys were swabbed on 2 different days, 6 days apart

Less than 14% of the keyboards were colonized with 9 different bacteria…and… of the keyboards in non-treatment areas, nearly 32% were contaminated compared to less than 9% in treatment areas.

They also found computer keyboards in triage and registration areas more likely to be contaminated than keyboards in other areas of the emergency department.

*** Kids who move more often than others, the more likely they were to report lower life satisfaction and psychological well-being even after controlling for age, gender and education — as well as having fewer quality social relationships as adults.

Researchers at the University of Virginia did a study of 7,108 U.S. adults ages 20 to 75 for 10 years and found the more they moved when they were young, the poorer outcomes in adulthood, especially among the introverted or neurotic.

The trans-Pacific crossing completed two-thirds of a long-running project to row around the world. Savage had earlier made her way across the Atlantic and is already looking to navigate the Indian Ocean.

The Pacific leg was carried out in 2 stages; San Francisco to Hawaii, and Hawaii to Madang, Papua New Guinea.

*** All harassment charges were dropped against Marek Daniluk, the accused stalker of British actress Keira Knightley after she declined to appear in court to make statements due to her filming schedule.

Full vacuum cleaner bags-Paper vacuum cleaner bags and their contents plus all species of non-synthetic debris can be added to the compost pile.

Nail clippings-The byproducts of pedicures, manicures, and even pet nails are all compostable, as long as they’re polish-free.

Rope and string-Rope and twine made out of natural fibers (like cotton, hemp, jute, and manila ropes) will decompose in the compost pile.

Leather goods and clothing-Natural leather products will decompose slowly in the compost pile.

Cotton balls and Q-Tips- Cotton swabs like Q-Tips must be 100% cotton and have cardboard or wooden sticks (NOT plastic).

Stale bread and other grain products-Leftover grain-based food products, including pasta, rice, cereal, crackers, pizza crusts, etc., can be composted (bury them in the pile to deter unwanted pests).

After cutting your lawn, instead of throwing the grass clippings away, leave them in your garden. The nutrients from the cuttings go back into the soil and act as a fertilizer.
