I’m really surprised it happened.

Both Punxatawney Phil at Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania (USA) and Wiarton Willie at Wiarton, Ontario (Canada) both saw their friggin’ shadows this morning on Groundhog Day.

According to legend, this means 6 more weeks of winter.

Here in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (eh !) it hasn’t been too severe a winter.

Yeah, it’s been cold at best at times but we haven’t been nailed with bad snowstorms (yet).

The snow’s been very manageable- shovellable yes not not overwhelming, so, so far, so good.

I do NOT like winter at all- ‘cept for hockey- that’s its only saving grace, otherwise, I’d sooner be sweating my ass in summer than shivering my skinny ass off in winter.

So, the thought of 6 more friggin’ weeks of winter doesn’t fire up my soul but I can live with another month and a half of cold…as long as it’s not deep freeze cold or can’t-see-in-front-of-your-windshield wipers-snowy out.

And, every February 2nd on Groundhog Day, it always makes me think of it in one way- if a Toronto Maple Leaf pops out of the Air Canada Centre and sees his shadow, it means 6 more weeks of bad hockey !
