We’ve lost a really good man… a really cool dude and a great talent.
Haydain Neale, lead singer for Jacksoul died Sunday from lung cancer.
Man, he had it tough the last couple of years of his life.
2 years ago, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Hamilton and was low key while his body healed.
His death caught me off guard as it did many others. His friends thought he was doing O.K. and was recovering from cancer but it took its toll on him.
Too short a life for this awesome man. Never knew him personally but had a chance to interview him 5 years ago before he played in Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) when he opened for James Brown.
Haydain hung out in Kitchener and Guelph and had alot of friends here.
All I know is he was a real class act when I spoke with him- very accomodating…no ego…warm, friendly…you could feel his goodness and his healthy chi…even more so on stage.
Very smooth and very, very Al Green coolish.
Funny cuz the other day I was just going through my cd’s and looking at his music and wondering how he was doing from the motorcycle accident in ’07…never knew he had cancer.
Ironically, cancer took James Brown, too a few Christmas mornings ago.
Haydain’s survived by his wife Michaela and daughter Yasmin… she says she’ll miss his smile and warmth the most.
We wish his family well and send them our true regrets and condolences for their loss of such a great human being… and to you, Haydain- thank you for your short 39 years on this earth because you touched many of us not only with your music but with your true Jacksoul !
God bless.
