I watched last night’s American Music Awards show and was and wasn’t impressed.
I was shocked to see several of the acts kinda sucked sound-wise… Keith Urban, Daughtry, Rihanna… they all sounded flat and off key.
Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson were my faves…thought the ladies killed their performances…’specially Gaga.
She has such great stage presence with her weirdness and on top of that, she’s an incredible singer.
When Whitney came out with the orchestra and big band…all I could think was...WTF with her song.
She brought the hoiuse down and got a standing O but the song about her comeback and battling through hard times just blew.
You could see and hear elements of the old Whitney but quite frankly I was disappointed… she doesn’t look totally healthy… she’s starting to show her age and her weight gain was obvious with the ads or lack thereof hanging out.
The Adam Lambert performance was way overblown and overhyped… he wanted to shake up the show with his leather and glam rock look but the lip on lip man kiss with his organist was too much. Sorry, the guys kissing guy thing…’specially on the lips just doesn’t do it for me… it makes me want to hurl !
Not a homophobic thing- it just doesn’t do anything for me… the girl on girl thing’s a little easier to take… just can’t imagine kissing another guy on the mouth.
Over all, the show was not bad… entertaining and there were some production problems…the opening set with Paula Abdul opening the show with a dead mic wasn’t cool.
Best of all, that 19 year old country cutie, Taylor Swift won a huge 5 awards and proved again what a sweetheart she is with her acceptance speeches from London where she stayed up half the night to see how many more trophies she’d have to squeeze on her mantlepiece.
Plus…it was awesome to see…no Kanye West… guess he’s gone into witness protection where he should freakin’ well be !
