Are women more sensitive than men ? I’m beginning to think so. In today’s harada-data, we find every woman has 2 friends she thinks is overweight but 1 in 5′s afraid to tell them and instead of suggesting they shed the excess cub, they continue to compliment and flatter their fatter friends. Hmmm…sounds like too much low-fat (window) dressing to me.

I certainly agree about being highly sensitive to other friend’s egos and not blurting out they need to lose a few or go to motor vehicle registration to get a plate.

I get it…but if a friend honestly asked me how to lose weight or expressed some sort of concern about their health, I’d jump right in… in a very tactful, non-attacking way to offer my input…better still…I’d ask their permission first to see if it was cool to give my opinion and suggestions.

That way, they feel they’ve granted you permission to step over that fine line in the sand about shattering their egos.

I, too have several friends who are overweight and could lose a few small children or two but I’d never tell them I thought they needed to lose the load.

I used to work in sales at a gym for 2 years, selling gym memberships and nutrition programs, so you learn how to dance around the delicate subject of weight loss, body image et al…best way is you ask them what THEY want to accomplish and what THEY want to do improve upon body-wise and you’re in like Flynn.

Like my mom used to say…it’s not what you say…it’s HOW you say it.

Works everytime !
