*** The American Psychological Association’s study on people up to their mid-90’s found most people get happier as they grow older. Here’s what else they discovered…
*They found older adults generally make the best of the time they have left and have learned to avoid situations that make them feel sad or stressed.
*Dr Laura Carstensen, a psychology professor at Stanford University found older people were far less likely than the younger to experience persistent negative moods and were more resilient to hearing personal criticism.
*They were also much better at controlling and balancing their emotions – a skill that appeared to improve the older they became.

***HUNDREDS TURN OUT FOR THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF ABBEY ROAD SHOOT YESTERDAY…
*** Hundreds of Beatles fans gathered to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the spoit where the famous photo of the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover was shot in North London. Crowds appeared around the crossing and celebrated by singing Beatles songs, causing traffic chaos in the process. 4 Beatles lookalikes then strolled across the road for the picture reconstruction.
Richard Porter, a Beatles tour guide and owner of the nearby Beatles caf put together the big celebration. Tony Bramwell, the band’s former road manager, was also there on the day the shot was taken. Besides Paul and Ringo, Bramwell’s the only person alive who was at the photo shoot that day,” he said. The photographer who took the famous original cover shot was the late Iain Macmillan.
***2 DEAD IN CHRISTIAN BAND BUS CRASH…
***The Christian rock band MercyMe cancelled a show Saturday in the St. Louis area after its tour bus t-boned a car in northeastern Indiana, killing 2 passengers in the car and injuring the pregnant car driver, who had a miscarriage. 2 passengers in the car, a male and female, were pronounced dead. Driver Kara Klinker, 18, was in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy and the baby died. Klinker was hospitalized Saturday in critical condition
No one in the band was seriously injured, sustaining what they described as “minor bumps and bruises. Witnesses told police the bus was going through a green light about 1:15 a.m. when the car made a left turn in front of it. The band from the Dallas area had been in Fort Wayne for a Friday night show at Parkview Field.
***1 MILLION EVACUATED AS TYPHOON MORAKOT HITS CHINA…
***Typhoon Morakot’s hit China‘s south-eastern coast, where almost 1 million people have been evacuated. The storm pounded Xiapu, in the eastern province of Fujian, with winds of up to 119km/h (74mph). 473,000 residents of Zhejiang province have been evacuated, as well as 480,000 from Fujian. A 4 year old boy was killed when houses collapsed in Wenzhou city in Zhejiang.
Morakot dumped 250cm of rain on Taiwan as it crossed the island before heading for China, leaving some of the worst flooding to hit some of the southern counties in ½ a century and also brought heavy rains in the Philippines, where at least 10 people were killed in flooding and landslides in the north.

*** Supergroup “Them Crooked Vultures” ’released details of their debut album. According to videos on Youtube the debut album ‘Never Deserved The Future’ will be released on October 23. The news follows last week’s announcement the band, which includes Dave Grohl, JoshHomme and John Paul Jones officially released their name and have their debut gig set for August 9th in Chicago.
